The Jessica & Jessica Show

What a great show.  The art was well received as were the two guests of honor.  Jessica Durnell Smith and Jessica Zemsky made sure all of those who came out were treated to a fun evening of art and music.  The music was provided by one of our regular artists, James Poulson.  Thanks to everyone who came out for the reception and especially to our two artists.

A last look at James Poulson

"My paintings appeal to people who feel the same emotions that I do when I'm outside.  If an artist can just express his feelings about a subject in his work, that's the best he can do.  You just have to go with your feelings."

  "You have to think in terms of shapes first and look at the big picture.  Looking at how dramatic lighting can affect the whole landscape is a lot more important than paying too much attention to the details of every little leaf or branch."

  

A little bit about James Poulson

"I paint because it is the strongest emotion that I know.  I see a landscape, and my first thought is that I have got to paint that," Poulson says.  "It's always been that way.  I remember as a kid going camping and fishing with my family.  When we'd come home, I'd feel like I had to do something about it.  I would paint two or three paintings just from one experience."
